Say goodbye to our Brushed Shetland Hats
This is going to be the last year we produce our Brushed Shetland Hats. We have twenty left in stock and when they are gone, they are gone. The knitting mill in Scotland who makes them have decided to get rid of this machine as it takes up too much space and they will replace it with four modern machines which will make much more money.
It’s sad as it’s the only machine of its kind in the UK and is part of the heritage of this 100-year-old knitting mill. Hats like this are what made this knitting mill special and why I work with them.
This machine produced a hat that was superbly warm, the wool was brushed which made it soft, thick and lightweight. We used to choose colours that gave them a look from another era, akin to that of old mountaineering hats.
Maybe I am getting old and not moving with the times, but you must be careful of what history you get rid of.
Best wishes
